Start with one wide photo
Step back far enough to get the furnace, its vent pipes and the coil cabinet on top in one frame. It shows us how the air moves, how the furnace vents and how much room there is to work.
Then the close-ups
- The furnace label, usually inside the lower door or on the side of the cabinet. It tells us the model, age and size.
- The outdoor AC and the label on its side.
- The thermostat. If the cover pops off easily, a shot of the wires behind it helps.

What happens next
We look over the photos and send a price for a heat pump with gas backup, and for all-electric if you ask. If your furnace can stay, we'll say so.
